FREE Accessories Pack (up to US$20/C$30 value):
Depending on the specific model, we provide two to four extra time-saving accessories (free of charge) for installation and/or RO membrane change not provided by manufacturers nor by most other retailers of reverse osmosis units:
(a) A self-piercing saddle valve for quick tapping of the water supply metal pipe (usually copper) 1/4" or 3/8" diameter. If your water supply pipe is a 3/8" "plastic" (non-metal) pipe, we will supply you with a John Guest style 3-way tee connector instead (3/8" x 3/8" x 1/4").
(b) a high quality plastic non-corrodable JG quick-connect ball valve for water supply shutoff (to be installed about 3cm (1 inch)after (a) above. This serves as an additional shutoff which is very convenient to use when changing filter catridges.
(c) a metal multi-diameter drain clamp that fits drain pipes of all diameters. This can be used instead of the standard plastic fixed diameter drain clamp provided with the unit.
(d) manual flush valve: this feature is available for the High Speed Economy V5 model only. By turning the manual flush valve on for 30 seconds (once every 2 or 3 months), the RO membrane receives an additional "cleaning" which will lengthen its service life. Remember to turn off the manual flush valve (return the handle to its original position) right after!
Production rate: up to 100gal (370L) per day (maximum), depending on the model chosen; Thin film composite (TFC) membrane; Water storage tank: 3 gal/11.3L capacity; Standard no-lead long reach faucet.
Our Made in USA RO membranes can easily last more than 6 to 8 years if the pre-filters are changed when needed. As water quality is unpredictable in some areas, we offer a 50% discount for your future RO membrane purchase within five years of your order (in case your RO membrane suffers premature fouling). To apply the discount, simply type in your Order number OR mention to us that your RO system has been purchased from us, and we'll be able to look up your previous purchase information on our database.

Cartridges that come with the Systems:
Stage 1
- 5 Micron Sediment Filter: Removes dirt, sediments, sand, and other physical particles.
Stage 2
- Carbon Block: Reduces chemicals such as chlorine, that may be present in your water supply.
Stage 3
- 2nd Carbon Block: Further reduces organics, odors, and other chemicals that might be present in your water supply.
Stage 4
- Reverse Osmosis Membrane: Membrane removes 93-97% of dissolved mineral salts and other contaminants in the water supply.
Stage 5
- Post Carbon Filter: A final polishing process (granulated active carbon) that enhances and clarifies your drinking water.
Replacement Cartridges & Change Frequency (recommended maximums):
The generic cartridge combination provided by most manufacturers may not be adequate to treat varying water conditions in different areas, and usually last shorter than the higher quality replacement cartridges that we offer. Follow This Link for Replacement Cartridge options and pricing.
*In regions with high sediment content in the water supply, filter cartridges may clog up much earlier (especially the sediment pre-filter). Our replacement cartridges may be different from the cartridges provided by the manufacturer, and are selected for handling high-sediment water and longer use.
(Note: TFC membranes have higher rejection rates of impurities than CTA membranes commonly used in simpler 3-stage systems). Product designed in the USA and made in China/Taiwan.
[ ] below indicates the end of year at which cartridges are to be changed. A, B & C refers to the vertical housings, in sequence, starting from the water inlet of the RO system.
The interval for cartridge changes may be more accurately determined and extended by the use of an inexpensive TDS meter to measure the TDS level of the product water (see TDS meter product description for details).
Difference between the V5-GS and the V5:
The V5-GS (Gold Seal) is a newer version of the V5 with the following differences:
-Water Quality Association (WQA) Gold Seal approved -Tested and Validated under WQA Standards ANSI/NSF 58;
-Air gap faucet (required by some local plumbing codes)instead of standard faucet
- 3/8" product water tubing (Gold Seal) vs 1/4" product water supply tubing (Regular)
-Lifetime warranty on the air-gap faucet (for the 1st owner)
Other than the above, the two models are exactly the same.
Dimensions of the V5/V5-GS (approx):
L: 38 cm (15")
H: 43 cm (17")
D: 14 cm (5.5")
Tank:
H: 36 cm (14")
Diam: 28 cm (11")
(Note: Click here for the alternate plastic, no-rust Tall-n-Slim tank)
The RO systems come with the necessary parts for installation. Unless you have non-typical plumbing, no additional parts need to be ordered from our other product listings.
OPTIONS:
(any options you select has to be ordered and paid for separately)
Designer Faucet Upgrade:
Customers may upgrade to a designer faucet with washerless ceramic disc
UV Sterilizer:
Install if your water supply is not disinfected and you need to make sure that there is no seepage of bacteria or viruses through the RO membrane into the product water. In this situation the UV sterilizer serves as a 99.99% effective second line of defence against bacteria and viruses, as the RO membrane's effectiveness will slowly degrade over time. The UV sterilizer option is strongly recommended for relatively high-risk water supplies, such as lake or well water. Read our Information on UV Sterilizers to familiarize yourself with the conditions under which UV sterilizers are effective. The safest setup is a twin-UV configuration: The 1st UV is linked between the 3rd pre-filter cartridge and the RO membrane, whereas the 2nd UV is installed after the post-filter cartridge and before the dispenser faucet. Note: UV lamps must be turned on continuously to ensure effectiveness. They are rated for 8000 to 9000 hours (about 12 months) and must be changed annually.
If your water supply is adequately disinfected such as by chlorination or ozonation etc, the UV sterilizer can be optional as long as you perform annual sanitizing of the RO system according to prescribed routines.
Booster pump:
Order only if your water supply pressure is too low, such as below 40 psi.
Permeate pump:
Permeate pumps are especially useful for well water and other settings when water economizing is a significant concern because it reduces the fill time of the RO storage tank thereby reducing the amount of water that goes down the reject water drain line.
For details or to order, please see Permeate Pump listing.
Delivery Pump:
Needed only if the RO unit needs enough delivery pressure and volume to serve more than 2 points of use or if product water delivery needs to be very fast. This is usually ordered AFTER you have installed the RO system and finds that a delivery pump is needed to increase the strength of water delivery.
TDS meter:
Use this to record the TDS levels of the purified water and the feed water. As the RO system's pre-filters get clogged up and/or the RO membrane deteriorates gradually over time, feed water pressure will decrease and/or the RO membrane's pores will allow more TDS to seep through the system, resulting in an increase of the TDS level of the product water. A useful rule of thumb is, whenever the product water TDS level increases to about 25% of the TDS level of the feed water, it is time to change one or more pre-filters and/orchange the RO membrane if changing the pre-filters does not reduce the TDS level.
PSI meter:
This easy to view, colour-coded PSI meter displays the system pressure (0 to 160psi) to show whether water pressure within the RO system is within the normal operating range. Low pressure (40 psi or less) means one or more filter cartridges are clogging up with sediments and should be inspected &/or changed. Click here to view how it is to be used.
De-ionization (DI) Cartridge:
Designed to further purify the RO product water by passing it through a DI (deionization) cartridge as the final stage of filtration. The DI cartridge contains ion exchange resins which remove the last traces of contaminants from the RO product water. DI is not absolutely necessary for an RO system unless ultra-pure water is needed or desired.
High Sediment Pre-filter module:
If you have high sediment levels in your water supply, and if you find that the sediment cartridge in the 1st stage of these RO systems clogging up within three months or less, we recommend ordering a 0.35 micron rated high capacity pleated sediment cartridge (SED035) to minimize RO system clogging, thus reducing the expense of filter cartridge changes in the long run. This cartridge is washable and re-usable a few times.
Post-filter Cartridges:
- GAC post-filter cartridges are standard 5 micron rated, granulated active carbon filter media
- CB1 post-filter cartridges are 1 micron rated, carbon block media
INSTALLATION:
- V5 models:
Install the pleated, high-capacity SED035 cartridge as the 1st stage cartridge of the V5 System.
- PuroTwist models:
Install the pleated, high-capacity SED035 cartridge within a Pre-filter Housing module, to be positioned after the feed water valve but ahead of the RO system. Use tubing left over from the installation of the RO system. Rest the pre-filter housing on the cabinet floor in a way that it will not fall over.
Note:
The PuroTwist model features "Easy-change" Twist-and-Turn replacement cartridges which can be replaced in as short as 30 seconds, but does not provide in-system high-sediment cartridges to protect the RO membrane from premature clog ups by high sediments.
Answers to common customer questions:
Q: What's the difference between the < href="https://www.canada-shops.com/Stores/ecopurewater/c11074p31791.2.html">PuroTwist and the V5 models?
A:
The difference is that the PuroTwist has an easy "Twist & Turn" cartridge replacement feature - it only takes less than 30 seconds to change a cartridge.
Q: What is the advantage of WQA Gold Seal certification?
A: The WQA Gold Seal is certification that a model has met the Water Quality Association's standards for an RO system.
Q: What are the advantages of additional accessories for your RO systems?
A: For example, a booster pump will increase water production rate in low feed water pressure situations (feed water pressure under 40 psi); A permeate pump will shorten the fill time of the storage tank by about 50%, thereby saving on water rejected into the drain; A delivery pump increases the water delivery pressure (from about 7 psi to 30 psi) from the RO storage tank for distribution of water to two or more points of use. All these pumps can be ordered later and added to the RO system when necessary.

Price comparison
When you compare RO systems, compare the following:
- Daily production rating (in gpd)
- Free accessories
- Warranty
- Free or discount offers
- Shipping fee
Remark:
Low gpd membranes have much shorter lifespans because they auto-flush very slowly and are prone to clogging up by sediments, resulting in high membrane change costs.
Please Read This Warning before placing an order for a UV sterilizer.
