A good alternative for this unit is the SunPure UV Filter (countertop or under sink model). Another good and economical choice is the US-2 (with UV) undersink filter.

Manufacturer's specifications:
Effective in killing bacteria on contact. Uses a specially designed lining in a 1 micron+ carbon block cartridge. The UV lamp is enclosed in a quartz sleeve. The lamp is replaceable, uses 10 watts and is estimated to last 9000 hours (Made in USA). The transformer has an indicator light which goes out when the lamp is burned out. Available in 110 volts or 220 volts, 50/60 Hz.

The 1 MICRON ABSOLUTE rated PB-1 carbon block cartridge is certified to remove giardia and cryptosporidium cysts (see description for Carbon Block Cartridge PB-1 for details)

When being changed, the filter cartridge should be lifted all the way up vertically and clearing the quartz sleeve to prevent the latter from accidental breaking. The quartz sleeve should NOT be touched directly with the hands. Use a cloth or handkerchief which is dry and clean. Any finger prints left on the quartz sleeve will reduce the effectiveness of the UV.

To change the UV lamp (annually), unscrew the base and slide UV lamp out very carefully, then detach the lamp from its socket and replace with new one. DO NOT touch the UV lamp directly with your hands - follow instructions given in (2) above.

Lifetime warranty for Counter Top and Under Sink Filter Units (excepting expendable filter cartridges and UV bulb) as long as replacement cartridges are purchased from us no less than once every two years; includes free replacement of diverter valve, O-ring, dispenser faucet, and the filter housing if these become worn or faulty. Shipping is to be paid by the customer. Please keep your receipt for warranty purposes.
